Huatulco has an amazing 36 sand beaches of every conceivable description, from medium surfable waves to small ankle-slapper waves. How about a restaurant on the beach? Or how about a great family beach for the kids to safely swim and play? Or are you looking for a more secluded beach to enjoy nature at its best? Whatever you are looking for, you will find it here in Huatulco.
Below you will see that I have gathered the names of the 45 beaches in the Santa Maria Huatulco area of Oaxaca, Mexico. (There are at least another 10 beaches with no public names.) I have sorted the beach based on the location from west to east.

Playa Arrocito is located just before Tangolunda Bay in the resort town of Huatulco. Only 300 foot long, this great little playa was named as a result of the sand that looks like small grains of rice. Its name comes from that feature. The sand is very different from other beaches of Huatulco, it is a little thicker with small shell fragments mixed with rocks. Although not a large beach, is a favorite in Huatulco and is surrounded by luxury hotels, villas, single family homes and condos with spectacular ocean views. Read more about Playa Arrocito…
